St Helens World Cup "Red Line" Domestic Violence Campaign

2nd Jul 2010

World Cup campaign Launch

Saturday 12th June saw the launch of the “red line” domestic violence marketing campaign for the World Cup season. Both our St Helens IDVAs attended this event in the town centre with the Detective Inspector of the Family Crime Investigation Unit.

The campaign was a success and saw many passers by in the town centre signing up to the fight against domestic abuse. A red line was taped to the floor across St Helens town centre where shop owners and passers by stood for photo opportunities in their support to ending domestic violence.

We see this as the first steps to combating what is predicted to be a high season for domestic abuse incidents in the area. Both the Police and the IDVA’s are working together to highlight the support available for victims throughout this time and also to bring perpetrators to justice

Relationships Centre to deliver emotional health and wellbeing workshops with the help of Children in Need

2nd Jul 2010

The Relationships Centre is to deliver Emotional Health and Wellbeing Workshops across Warrington and Halton with the support of Children In Need. Having worked closely with Children, Young People and their families The Relationships Centre has identified several areas of personal development that could go a long way to support young people to understand and improve their relationship skills as they make the transition to adulthood.

The workshops aim to raise awareness around the challenges that relationships present in all areas of our lives such as at school, college, home, work and personal interactions.

Over the next year The Relationships Centre will be delivering the workshops within Schools, Colleges and Children’s Centres across Warrington and Halton. The workshops are aimed at 13-19year olds who may already have experienced difficulties in their relationships, including young mums. The programme will cover various issues such as: Self- Esteem, Conflict, Personal Safety and Healthy Relationships.

In addition to this The Relationships Centre is also providing training to professionals around the Impact of Domestic Abuse upon Children and Young people.
